An Important Message from
Marc Adams
HeartStrong is a truly unique organization. You
will not find another place solely for students from religious schools who
are struggling with feeling that they are gay.
I founded this organization over six years ago because I
wanted to make sure that no one from a religious school, college or
university ever had to struggle alone.
This site is just a part of our efforts to reach out to
those of us who have attended or are attending religious schools and
colleges who deal with being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered
(GLBT). Make sure you read our
confidentiality
statement so you can make sure that no one else has to know that you visit
our site.
Because we were once students at
religious schools, we know what it is like to struggle to survive.
Especially when you struggle with feeling that you may be gay, lesbian,
bisexual or transgendered.
We know what it is like to feel the
pressure to be like everyone else. We know what it feels like to hide all of
your feelings and hope that no one notices anything about you that might
make them think you are struggling with this. We know what it is like to
feel so lonely and discouraged that it doesn't seem like life is worth
living.
We also know that struggling with this
and being at a religious school means that you may have to deal with someone
outing you to the deans and we know what they can make you do. We know it is
not easy and we know about the pain. That is why we are here.
We want you to know that you are not
alone. No matter how dark it gets, no matter how much pain there is inside,
and no matter what they make you do, there is hope, love and peace in life.
And we want to help you find it.
HeartStrong, Inc., is not about trying
to make you gay or trying to take your faith from you. We know what it is
like to feel that someone doesn't understand this journey. We are here to
talk to you, be your friend and let you ask us questions about how we have
walked through this and found our hope, love and peace.
This is a process that we have had to
work through and we are here to help you work through it as well. Please
read through the other pages of our site and email us if you like. We are
hear to listen and to share how we have made it through some very difficult
times. We want you to make it, too. Let us help.
